The Apple Valley Legacy Trail (AVLT) group participated in the  Chili Cook Off on Saturday, October 18. The team cooked up some great “Trail Dust” chili, which was a little on the tame side, with tri-tip, mild serrano peppers and a tomato sauce blend. They had lots of people appreciating the milder option, as most of the other cooks offered very spicy products.

Team members included High Desert Community Foundation representative Trina Siverts, plus AVLT members Paul and Pat Jacobs with their son, John; Niki Bartley with her children Brianna & Jayden.  Trina’s daughter Sarah and granddaughter Angelina also pitched in to help.

The weather was perfect, and that translated into a big crowd of people passing by the booth. It was a great opportunity to let the public know a little more about The Trail project, and as always there was a tremendous interest. Some money was raised to add to the fund, and help keep the project moving in a forward direction.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the cookoff! See you again next year.
